We must save Mont-Tremblant, but is Mont-Tremblant really for sale?
(Mont-Tremblant, February 15, 2010) « We all want to save and protect our interests. Whether we are American, European or of any other nationality, it is our way of feeling and expressing our identity and sense of national belonging.
Looking at Mont-Tremblant, this mountain is full of life and we realize that, unlike our hockey clubs or any other national asset, nature has been generous in endowing us with this treasure which cannot be moved. Certainly, Mont-Tremblant is here to stay, no matter what people say. Faith can move mountains, but it cannot solve Intrawest/Fortress financial difficulties!
If we must consider a change in ownership, so be it. But the priority is to operate the mountain and take advantage of its full potential. Mont-Tremblant is a magnificent centre of sustainable economic development. There is still a lot to be done.
I know this region well enough to know that we possess the talent, the entrepreneurship, the experience, a taste for big projects and access to financing in order to create a world class tourist park, at a time when values are still affordable, people are receptive and governments are well disposed. I would like to add that it is this reality, not a dream nor a vision, but this reality that motivated me in entering into politics. »
