The Place de la Gare has two new resident artists. Since December 2011, painter/engraver Désirée Szucsany and sculptor Luis Paniaguia have been showing their works beside those of Lyn Beauclair and Michel Poirier. Désirée Szucsany was delighted to become a featured artist at the Place de la Gare. She had declared herself as a candidate for the place left vacant by the departure of Normand McDuff, because she sees this as a wonderful way to make art accessible. “It lets me talk with the visitors and create before their eyes. It’s very stimulating,” she confides. Mme Szucsany has been an area artist for twenty or so years. The Town was looking for well-known local professional artists. Following a selection process, Mme Szucsany and Mr. Paniaguia got the nod. Each will add a very special and distinct flavour to the art gallery because their works are very different from those already on view. |
