Winter follies in the Old Village
It has become a tradition in Mont-Tremblant. The Folies d’hiver are back again this year, Saturday, February 18, in the Old Village district (Lac Mercier).
It will be a day of family fun. A snow sculpture contest will be held at Place de la Gare, and the traditional friendly hockey game will take place at Parc Daniel-Lauzon. The two competing teams will be made of local personalities and young players, and of four artists: actor Carl Marotte (known for his role of Pierre Lambert in Lance et compte), singer and musician Steve Provost, singer and former participant in Star Académie Pascal Chaumont, and Star Académie 2011 audition finalist Olivier Coutlée, from Mont-Tremblant. Sports columnist Jean-Charles Lajoie and comedian Julie Caron will be commenting on the match. For those of you who would like to participate but hesitate because you fear the cold, not to worry, the Town will provide free soup and hot chocolate.
The Folies d’hiver will continue in the evening, on stage, at Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus church. At 8 p.m., Julie Caron will make you laugh and Olivier Coutlée will thrill your heart with his music. Then the Zarzuela choir, a group of 16 singers whose repertoire includes classical, world music and jazz, will be performing. Cost of tickets is $20, by reservation, and $25 at the door. The money will be donated to the football club Les Voyageurs and to Parents-Musique des Hautes-Laurentides.
