Garage sales: new rules

Henceforth, garage sales in Mont-Tremblant will be restricted to two specified weekends every year – two days in the spring and two days in late summer. For 2009, the Town has determined that garage sales may be held only on the weekend of May 9 and 10, and the weekend of August 29 and 30. The Town says the restriction is now part of the urban planning bylaws and follows similar moves by other municipalities in Québec. Although no permits are required, a few rules will apply. For example, signs will be allowed only on the property where the garage sale is held, it may be posted no more than four days before the event and the sign must be removed immediately after the sale ends. Only one sign, not exceeding 0.5 square meters in size, will be allowed.

The Town says that in concentrating the 50 or so garage sales held every year on two weekends, the events become festive and convivial occasions where town citizens, people from the region and tourists alike can gather together.
